Lady Gaga - real name Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta - was born 28th March, 1986, the eldest daughter of affluent parents Cynthia Louise Bissett and internet entrepreneur Joseph Anthony Germanotta, Jr. and was brought up in Manhattan's Upper West Side. After attending the Convent of the Sacred Heart, a private all-girls Roman Catholic school, she trained for two years at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts before leaving to pursue a career in music. She spent the next three years finding herself by slumming it in the New York underground music scene.
      In 2008 she relocated to Los Angeles and released her debut album The Fame despite management fears about her being too "racy", "dance-orientated" and "underground" for the mainstream market. The fears proved to be totally unfounded as the album and related singles were massively successful and became the recipients of numerous popular music awards. Lady Gaga's follow-up albums and her very individual, unusual and often outrageous fashion sense and visual style in her music videos, live performances and public appearances have kept her very much in the media and public eye.
      With global album and single sales of 28 million and 140 million respectively, as of April 2015, she is already one of the best-selling musicians of all time. Her achievements include 13 Guinness World Records, 6 Grammy Awards, and is the first artist to win a Songwriters Hall of Fame's Contemporary Icon Award for "attaining an iconic status in pop culture".
      Though still commercially successful her last two albums have lost the crazy, creative spark that ensured her initial meteoric rise to maverick super-star glory... leaving us pondering the eternal question...

Kim Kardashian West was born Kimberly Noel Kardashian on the 21st of October, 1980, into the wealthy lifestyle of parents Robert and Kris (née Houghton) in Los Angeles, California. She first gained media attention through her friendship with socialite Paris Hilton, but she received wider notoriety after a 2003 sex tape with former boyfriend - singer, songwriter, record producer and actor - Ray J, was "leaked" in 2007.
      Later that year, she and her family began to appear in the (fabricated) "reality" television series Keeping Up with the Kardashians for E! Entertainment Television and its success led to numerous spin-offs including Kourtney and Kim Take New York and Kourtney and Kim Take Miami. In 2010, Kardashian was reported to be the highest-paid reality television personality, with estimated earnings of US$6 million.
      The television and social media personality, socialite, and model has married three times (so far) - first to music producer Damon Thomas in 2000 (divorced in 2003), then to to NBA player Kris Humphries in 2010 (the marriage lasted a grand total of 72 days and is widely rumoured to have been a publicity stunt for her reality show), and finally(?) to rapper Kanye West in 2014.
      Fuelled by numerous high profile endorsements and regularly exposing herself to the general populace, Kim Kardashian's personal worth, as of May 2014, was estimated to be US$45 million.

Poll: Is Charlie Sheen simply living the American Dream to the MAX?

Charlie Sheen - real name Carlos Irwin Estévez - was born 3rd September, 1965, the youngest son of actor Martin Sheen and artist Janet Templeton. He rose to fame through a series of film roles, both serious and comedic, but became best known for his comedy television roles in the 2000s. In 2010, Sheen was the highest paid actor on television and earned US$1.8 million per episode of TV series Two and a Half Men. Since the onset of his super-stardom Sheen's personal life has been the topic of many headlines, including reports of alcohol and drug abuse, trysts with porn-stars and wrecking hotel rooms, as well as allegations of domestic violence.
      In the wake of his dismissal from Two and a Half Men in 2011 after making derogatory comments about the series' creator, Chuck Lorre, and Warner Bros, Sheen had a highly publicized "meltdown" which was broadcast on television and the Internet. He made bizarre statements suggesting that he was a "warlock" with "tiger blood" and "Adonis DNA", and that he was "winning". Sheen also posted videos to YouTube showing himself smoking cigarettes through his nose, and criticising his former employers. He told one TV interviewer, "I'm tired of pretending I'm not a total bitchin' rock star from Mars."
      Just in case you're not doubting his sanity at this point - Sheen is a prominent advocate of the 9/11 Truth movement and is also a strident supporter of the anti-vaccination movement.
